Re: We need more members ...

I'm working on some content to put up in the member bots area - I think the best place to keep people hanging around is lots of cool pics, videos, and make the forum easy to use as a reference. The BEAM world is fairly saturated with references on many of the usual things - ie basic circuits. I think we should have a competition with the category of "something new" - be it a BEAM bot modelled after a new animal (we have most insects beat to death, although ones with 2 motors/appendage are very rare). I have seen very few aqautic-based beam-bots. I don't suggest making waterproof ones or throwing them in the water, especially if they aren't waterproof! What I think is possible is some of the bottom-dwelling aquatic animals or plants or something. I just watched a few episodes of "Life" and "Planet Earth" today and I got some cool ideas. This fall I may have some time to make one I thought of, but I don't want to give away my idea should this become a reality ;)

Yea, there are a few things I am thinking to do to get new members to show up. One is actually geared to getting people that have signed up already to stick around, I want to start a newsletter but am having trouble being able to send newsletters with html in them thanks to the antiquated mass email system on phpbb3. Also, I would like to revive the competitions again and actually finish one and maybe come up with some sort of prize or something. Another thing is getting advertised on the yahoo! group without them getting pissed will definitely help getting people here. Keep throwing out ideas, they are always helpful for me and maybe they will get us growing a lot faster...
